Board Members
President: Brett Daniels
First started in triathlon in 1998 competing in the AT&T Memorial Day Sprint Triathlon in Doha, Kuwait. Served 5 years in the US Army as an Air Traffic Controller with the 3rd Infantry Division, Ft. Stewart GA, and the 25th Infantry Division (L), Schofield Barracks, HI. Race resume includes Ironman USA 2004, Gulf Coast Half Iron (2003, 2004, 2006), Great Floridian Half Iron (2003), various other sprint and Olympic distance races totaling over 30 in all. Brett is also a USA Triathlon Certified Level I coach.
Vice-President: Matt Russ
Matt Russ has coached and trained elite athletes from around the country and internationally. He currently holds expert licenses from USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, and is a licensed USA Track and Field Coach. Matt is head coach and owner of The Sport Factory, and works with athletes of all levels full time. He is a free lance author and his articles are regularly featured in a variety of magazines and websites.
Secretary: Ron Redding, Jr.
Began multisport in June of 2005 with his first event; the Callaway Gardens Sprint Triathlon. Since that event his experience has continued to grow with the completion of several sprint distance and a few international/olympic distance races. Ron has completed Adventure Races ranging from 4 hour to 10 hour events and hopes to complete his first 24 hour Adventure Race in March. Ron's professional background is in Commercial Construction where he works for www.garrardconstruction.com. Ron received his degree in Building Construction with a Minor in Business from Georgia Southern University in 1999.
Treasurer: Brian Madden
Brian began his multisport career with the Tsali Challenge in 2002. He got his first taste of a sprint triathlon in 2004. In 2005 (3 races) and 2006 (12 races), he began taking his training, racing and the multisport lifestyle more seriously. Joining and staying involved with NAMC has really helped him develop his skills and improve his times by learning from our coaches, exchanging knowledge with other members, and participating in group trainings. Brian's goals are a late season 1/2 IM in 2007 and possibly an IM in 2008. Triathlon fitness has led him into Adventure Racing where he can use his mountain biking, hiking and paddling background. He is also training his 7 year old daughter to compete in her first tri in summer of 2007.
IT/Web Director: Heather Blackmon
Heather first participated in a triathlon in 2005 with the Tri the Parks Mistletoe Sprint. She completed 2 sprint races in 2005, with plans to increase training for an Olympic over the off-season. In 2006, Heather completed 3 Olympic distance races and 2 Sprint distance races, obtaining the services of a coach beginning in the middle of the season. Professionally, Heather is an IT Project Manager with Kimberly-Clark and a Travel Consultant with Sail Away Travel.
Social Director: Lisa Redding
Lisa first became interested in triathlon on 2005, and has completed several sprint triathlons. Shes does triathlons for the exercise and social aspect, rather than the competitive edge. Lisa plans on continuing with sprint triathlons for many seasons to come.
Volunteer Coordinator: Stephen Walker
Currently in his second full year as a triathlete, Stephen served in the Marine Corps during Desert Storm from 1989-1993. His first year races included: Rack & Roll Challenge Four Adventure Race, Callaway Gardens Sprint Triathlon, Lake Lanier Duathalon, Peachtree Road Race, and a few other local 5k's.
Board Member Position Descriptions:
President
The position of President will have the following duties and responsibilities: CEO of the club, point of contact for any interaction with other clubs, agencies, and vendors, organizer of all club meetings. The President will also have final approval authority on club matters.
Vice-President
The Vice President will assist the President in administrative matters, act as the alternate point of contact for the club, and will be responsible for exploring Sponsorship opportunities. Coordinating guest speakers for meetings.
Secretary
The secretary will be responsible for the membership records, recruiting, and all administrative duties associated with the club. Additional duties include: sponsorship opportunities and club literature (brochures, business cards, etc).
Treasurer
The treasurer will be responsible for club funds, accounts payable and receivable, and any tax or other financial obligations incurred by the club.
IT/Web Director
The IT/Web Director will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the club website and forum.
Social Director
The social director will organize periodic social gatherings, post race gatherings, and the End of the Year awards dinner. The social director will also be responsible for refreshments at the monthly meetings.
Volunteer Coordinator
The volunteer coordinator will be the liaison between the club and local race directors, for the purpose of providing volunteers to support events. The volunteer coordinator will also be responsible for all club interaction with USAT, to include updating club roster, reporting results, and renewing membership.
