January Club Meeting

This months topics will be periodization and "Going Long" (for those of you thinking of the HIM or IM distance), by Brett Daniels.

Triathlon Technique- Swim, Bike, Run, Transitions, Race Nutrition, and Injury Prevention

Base season is the best time to address technique, but if you do not have the technical conception of good technique, it is a tough task.  This clinic gives practical demonstration of proper form and technique for all triathlon disciplines, and teaches you how to apply it to your training.

November Club Meeting

The next club meeting is November 2nd: 6PM Group Run, 7PM Meeting. The meeting is  located at Roswell Area Park in the Community Activity Building. The address is - 10495 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075.

This month we will focus on 2007 club uniforms! We will have samples to try on from each manufacturer we are considering. Come give us your input and bring your checkbook as we will also be securing orders for the 2007 uniforms. Anyone interested in having a uniform for next year should attend or speak with Ron prior to the November meeting. Uniforms will only be ordered once for next season unless we have the demand to warrant a second order. The uniforms will be fully sublimated Jerseys and will consist of a layout that will match solid black shorts. Currently we are speaking with Louis Garneau and Squadra.

ANYONE WHO MAY WANT A JERSEY FOR NEXT SEASON MUST ATTEND THE MEETING OR CONTACT rredding@garrardconstruction.com RON REDDING BY THE MEETING DATE. IF YOU DO NOT DO ONE OF THESE, YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO PURCHASE A TEAM UNIFORM FOR THE 2007 SEASON.

MEMBERSHIP: It was announced at the September meeting that new members who have signed up since the August meeting will have their membership extended to include the 2007 season. Membership runs by the calendar year so sign up now and be sure to get your club discounts before the holiday season arrives. We are also accepting Membership renewals for the 2007 season

AS A REMINDER: Our December meeting will be our Christmas Party dinner. We have reserved one of the party rooms and will be discussing the details of the party at our November meeting.

We look forward to seeing you this Thursday at the final "official" meeting of the year!

August Club Meeting

All3Sports will present a "roadside repair" clinic and answer bike maintenance questions, so come prepared with any questions you might have.

Blazing Fast Transitions clinic

Big Peach Running Co. will be hosting a clinic in conjunction with GA Multsports Productions on July 16th, at 2:00pm. 
Title of clinic is "Blazing Fast Transitions" and it will, of course, focus on all the details that go into cutting time while in T1 & T2.  Could be a valuable experience for those looking for an extra edge at some of the big events coming later this year (especially the sprint & Olympic distances).  Details below:

July Club Meeting

Guest speakers will be Steve Moss, proprietor of Big Peach Running Co, with a shoe fit clinic and Steve Elton, a physical therapist, who will be speaking on endurance sport injury prevention and treatment.

June Club Meeting

Guest speakers will be a nutritionist on "Weight Maintenance and Loss for Athletes" and Brian Rell on being a USAT Official and the Rules of Triathlon.

Athlete of the Month - June 2006 - Sarah Russ

Sarah Russ brings the right mix of work ethic, attitude, and fun to her training.  She is a great source of encouragement and support to those around her and people often look for her familiar smile on race day.  During her training and racing she gives it 100%.  As a member of team Subaru, Sarah has worked very hard this year and that work has paid dividends.  She has placed in her age group in several events and set personal records in all her events.  Her cycling in particular has improved dramatically and she often gives the guys a run for their money in the hills.
Athlete of the Month - May 2006 - Chris Powers

Chris Powers has made remarkable progress in a season.  Chris started out last year with a 31+ min. 5k.  A newbie to multi-sport he has dedicated himself fully to the improvement.  Chris adheres to the two main tenants of athletic performance; consistency and accuracy.

Athlete of the Month - April 2006

This month's Athlete of the Month is Brian Rell. Brian is in his second year of triathlon training and like most of us juggles a job, parenthood, married life, and training for triathlons. He has overcome some significant obstacles over the past year to get to where he is now and wanted to share more about him and his adventure with you. read more
